Teaching Brownie a new trick! #ILoveMyk9 #CBias

As you know from the previous post here that we recently went shopping to purchase some dog treats to try to teach Brownie a new trick! Today I will show you the results so far.

Here is Brownie listening to Brianah getting the treats. You can see in that face he knows that treats are coming and is waiting patiently!
I tried holding the treats but he would not let me get a good picture of him if I'm holding them!
Here is Brianah asking him to lay down. But she was holding the treat up in the air so he was not going to do anything but stare at the treat! He knows how to site pretty good but not to lay down.
Alicia gave it a try to see if he would shake. He didn't like that one to much.

Here are two videos: The first is Brianah trying to get Brownie to lay down!

This one is me training Brownie.

So as a conclusion. I do not recommend showing them the treat (at least with Brownie) because then they do not want to pay attention to anything but the treat in your hand. I would hid it and ask them to do what you want. Then give the treat to them. Also, in the beginning it takes a little more help showing them what you want them to do. But then as you keep going they will understand what you are getting at with out any hand gestures etc.
I think overall Brownie has done very well with his training. He sure loves the treats we supplied him with!
I like using Milk-Bone® Treats, Pup-Peroni Treats and Milo’s Kitchen Treats for teaching Brownie!
